go to the links below to see step by step instructions on a range of
candle making Not
for beginners! You will need proper moulds for the core candle and a
few dipping tins, depending on how
You will also need a bucket of cold water and a sharp knife. You will need to have some kind of hook situated above your work surface so that you can tiei the candle to it by its wick when you start carving. You will only have a limited time to carve once you have finished all the dipping - so make sure you are well prepared and that everything is in place. It is difficult for the amateur to make these candles as you will need a heat source under a vat of hot water in which place all the dipping cans so they keep melted. You can improvise with very large catering saucepans. Before you start realise that the first candle you make is unlikely to be a great success. Dip and carve candles require practise - but once you have mastered the technique you will find it easy! We have chosen a coloured combination candle so that you can used to the effect of dipping into different colours and get a feel of hhow many layers you like. Obviously the colours you use are a matter of personal choice - and the unity candle set which we show is just made with clear wax and wax dyed with chalky white dye. Having got everthing ready - remember you have to work quickly once you start carving - you are now ready to start!
