| Children love making candles with modeling wax!! No heat is needed so it is really safe! This a a simple and fun candle making project. Brightly coloured mushroom candles.
You will need -Three tubs of different coloured modelling wax. CLICK HERE for our cold candle making kits Our tubs of modeling wax come with wick supplied. Take a enough green wax to make a sausage shape about 3 cm long and 3 cm wide. The more you handle modeling wax the more pliable it becomes, so you might have to rub around in your hands for a while - particularly if you are making candles in a cold room. Roll it between your fingers to get your squat sausage shape.
Take out a lump of the blue wax, again knead it with your hands until it is pliable, and shape it into the top of your mushroom.
Now you have to join the base to the top. You do this by threading the wick through with a wicking needle - first the base and then the blue top. When they are joint make sure that the wick is tight and straight through the candle.
Now the two pieces are joined by the wick gently press them firmly together and smooth out the join. Press the finished mushroom firmly down onto a flat surface to make sure it is standing straight.
Now you are ready to decorate your mushroom with spots. Roll tiny balls of wax between your fingers and then flatten them to make the spots, and just push them gently and firmly onto the mushroom.
Now all you have to do is light it!
